Collector K. Senthil Raj promised here on Wednesday that ‘Narikorwa’ living in the district would soon get a pucca house.
Since the state government recently sent letters to all the collectors to conduct a comprehensive survey about the living conditions of ‘Narikorwa’ and other marginalized sections of the society and take steps to ensure proper distribution of welfare schemes to them Thee, Dr. Senthil Raj visited Narikorwa on Wednesday and is living near the new bus stand.
The Collector said that a detailed report of the living conditions of the Narikorwas and other nomadic people, their needs, distribution of Aadhar cards, family cards, voter ID cards, old age pension and monthly assistance for the disabled, etc. would be sent. State government till 25 November
Nomadic people welcomed the collector by garlanding them. Taking the Narikorwa children along throughout the tour, Dr. Senthil Raj interacted with them and ascertained their living conditions and needs.
“Soon a special camp will be organized at their place for giving orders for getting Aadhaar card, ration card, voter ID and old age pension. We will choose the right place near Thoothukudi to build a permanent home for them within a week,” said Dr Senthil Raj.
Thoothukudi Revenue Divisional Officer Sivasubramaniam, Tehsildar Justin and Taluk Supply Officer Selvakumar were present.
