However, former India captain Mohammad Azharuddin There are very different opinions on the 28-year-old batsman.
Azharuddin said that Babar is not a natural opening batsman and should bat at No.4 as it would be really beneficial for the team.
“Pakistan have two important openers – Rizwan and Babar. Babar was lbw many times in the last big tournament. These are the things you need to think about. If you are not scoring runs at the top of the order then you should bat at No.3 or 4 and it will help Pakistan as well. You need to change your strategy as he is not a natural opener.” Azharuddin said this to the media before the International League T20 match.
On Babar’s captaincy, Azharuddin said it was too early to judge his leadership skills and the batsman should be given some more time.
“Everybody takes time to learn. How long is it? 1-2 years? Give him some time. It’s not easy to judge captaincy in such a short span of time.”
