The Navratri of 2021, which started from 7 October, will go on till 15 October. During these nine days period, people worship nine forms of Goddess Durga. Many devotees observe ritualistic fasts on these days and avoid eating onions, garlic, some grains among other food items. While rice and flour are prohibited, Samvat rice and water chestnut take the place of these items; Similarly, rock salt is used to flavor curries and only dry spices and ginger are used to add flavor to dishes.
