urn installation rules

Establishment of Ghat or Kalash is an important ritual during Navratri. It is said that by doing this all the negative energy spread in the house ends. This year the auspicious time for setting up the Kalash is from 6.11 am to 7.51 am on 26 September 2022. The North-East direction is considered most auspicious for setting up the Kalash.

Place a pot by sprinkling Gangajal in this direction of the worship room and put a red cloth on it and install a picture or idol of Maa Durga. Now place the holy soil in an earthen pot and sow the barley seeds. Then fill Gangajal in a copper or earthen vessel and put Akshat, betel nut, coin, clove and Durva grass in it.

Tie Kalava around the neck of the Kalash and wrap a red chunri around the coconut. Tie it with Kalawa and put mango leaves in the Kalash and place coconut on it. After this, place the Kalash in a pot containing barley and place the Kalash on the right side of Maa Durga. Worship Maa Durga after setting up the Kalash.
