Navratri 2022: This nine-day long festival, which is celebrated with great enthusiasm, joy and enthusiasm, is here. Navratri celebrates her victory over Maa Durga and the demon Mahishasura. Navratri signifies ‘good over evil’. The last day of the festival is called Vijayadashami or Dussehra. Goddess Brahmacharini is worshiped on the second day of Shardiya Navratri. Here the word ‘Brahma’ means penance and ‘Brahmacharini’ means the one who does penance.
The festival of Shardiya Navratri, dedicated to Maa Durga and her nine incarnations, is celebrated with great enthusiasm by Hindus across the country. As it began on 26 September, marking the first day of the festivities, devotees visited the temple of Maa Durga to seek blessings. Take a look at how devotees are celebrating the festival:
Devotees thronged the Mata Vaishno Devi temple on the Trikuta hills in Katra, Jammu and Kashmir on the first day today. Officials told ANI that Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) has made all necessary arrangements to cater to the huge rush of devotees.

Hundreds of devotees gathered at the Kamakhya Devi Temple in Guwahati. As the entire country fills with immense enthusiasm, devotees throng to visit the various temples dedicated to Goddess Durga. Talking to ANI, Head Priest Kabir Prasad Sharma said, “Navratri has started at Kamakhya temple from today. Kumari Puja has also been performed during Navratri. Today is Pratipada and a Kumari will be worshipped.”
Navratri is celebrated in many ways in India. Ramlila, a festival in which scenes from the Ramayana are performed, are held in different parts of the country. The story concludes on Vijayadashami by burning the effigy of King Ravana. During Ramlila, the story of Lord Rama’s victory over Ravana is acted out. In fact, on the tenth day of Navratri, also known as Vijayadashami, a large procession is organized during which clay idols of Maa Durga are ceremonially immersed in a river, ocean or ocean. Popular places to perform this exercise include West Bengal, Odisha, Assam and Bihar. The most important day for the worship of Maa Durga is considered to be the day of Durga Visarjan.
Several dances including Garba and Dandiya Raas are performed during the nine-day festival. While Dandiya Raas involves dancing with dandiya sticks to the beat of music, Garba is a traditional dance in which participants clap and move in a circle making rhythmic gestures.
