BJP has demanded an apology from Congress President Sonia Gandhi
The National Commission for Women on Thursday issued notice to Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury to appear in person and give a written explanation for calling President Draupadi Murmu the ‘President’. The commission, which scheduled Choudhary’s hearing next week at 11.30 am on Wednesday, also wrote to Congress President Sonia Gandhi to intervene and take appropriate action against Chowdhury for her derogatory remarks.

The NCW and 13 state women’s commissions issued a joint statement, saying Chowdhury’s remarks were “deeply derogatory, sexist and an attempt to humiliate the honorable President”.
