West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said on Tuesday that the day people get a credible alternative, the BJP will be ousted from power.
He reiterated that his party and other opposition camps should come together to form an alternative force.
“We have to be proactive. We have to call for the removal of BJP in the 2024 general election. The BJP is still in power because there is no alternative. The day there is one, it will be thrown out. All we have to do is make that choice.” Take the initiative to build the state government,” the CM said while addressing the party’s organizational meeting.
Banerjee also announced that the party would launch a mass contact program from May 5, the first anniversary of her third term, and would continue till July 21, which also happens to be Martyrs’ Day in Bengal.
“Ram and Bam (BJP and Left) have joined hands in Bengal. But this state will show how to defeat the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls,” he said.

“It was a well-planned attempt by the BJP to create a constitutional crisis… a conspiracy to stop an elected government from doing its job. BJP is a party of rioters, it doesn’t care about democratic norms,” he said.

“Everyone knew that war was imminent. Why did the Center take time to bring back the students? And now it is trying to take credit for bringing them home,” argued the CM.
