NEET UG 2024 Result Live: Godhra Seems a Localised Issue, CJI Observed

The CJI on Thursday observed that the paper leak case in Godhra seemed like a localised issue. “Nothing went through in the sense before it happened they were caught,” he said.

“In Godhra, students had no opportunity. There is no wrongdoing. The process was that the centre-in-charge would fill in the blanks and not that students have to memorise. But it was prevented ultimately,” he observed.

NEET UG 2024 Result Live: CBI Probe So Far

As many as 63 people have been taken into custody till now of which 18 have been arrested by CBI, the latest being four students of AIIMS Patna who were allegedly “solvers”. “Three third-year students and one second-year student were arrested and sent to CBI custody for four days. Probe so far has revealed that one of the key accused, Pankaj, gave the stolen question paper to this group to solve and provide the answer sheets,” a CBI official said.

Scale of NEET Paper Leak Much Lower Than Expected, Reveals CBI Probe

A CBI probe into the NEET paper leak case has prima facie indicated that the scale of malpractice could be much lower than anticipated, with less than 150 students affected, a top agency official has told CNN-News18. “It is only in the Patna-Hazaribagh case that there is any evidence of the question papers being stolen. Here too, only one centre seems to have been affected. Country-wide, the total number of students affected could be less than 150… even within this number, the aspirants who got to know of the question paper ahead of the exam could be even fewer,” they said.

‘Solver Module’ Of NEET-UG Paper Leak Gang

Pankaj Kumar alias Aditya, a 2017-batch civil engineer from the National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur (Jharkhand), allegedly stole the NEET-UG paper from the NTA trunk in Hazaribagh. In its investigation, the CB found that seven people were tasked to solve the question paper. These seven people were tasked with solving 25 questions each in approximately 45 minutes. As many as five people from the ‘solver module’ have been arrested by the CBI to date. The CBI has arrested a total of 16 persons in connection with the NEET-UG paper leak case.

NEET UG 2024 Result Live: CBI Arrests First-Year MBBS Student For Being Part Of ‘Solver Module’

The Central Bureau Of Investigation (CBI) on Friday arrested a first-year MBBS student of Ranchi’s Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) for allegedly helping to solve the stolen question paper in the NEET-UG paper leak. Surbhi Kumari, a first-year student, was taken into custody after two days of detailed questioning by the CBI. Kumari was allegedly the fifth member of the ‘solver module’ which was present in Hazaribagh on the morning of May 5, the NEET-UG examination day, to solve the paper stolen by Pankaj Kumar, officials said.

— According to Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, 254 students are opposing the retest.

— The SC bench has sought clarification from NTA on students who changed exam centre and are in the top 108,000.

— Out of the 15,094 new registrations, around 12000 students have failed the exam while only 44 will get admissions, the NTA counsel, and the SG told the CJI.

— SC examined the Hazaribagh case. A trunk containing question papers was found travelling on an e-rickshaw on May 3 in Hazaribagh and it was received by the principal of the school. The CBI has arrested the principal. “There is a systemic failure in conducting the exam by NTA. Failure is multi-dimensional,” he said.

— The idea of somebody leaking the paper is not to make a national charade of the NEET exam. “People were doing it for money. Therefore anybody who is making money out of it won’t circulate it mass scale,” the CJI had observed.

While hearing the matter on Thursday, the SC directed the Bihar police to submit report. “We would like to see the Bihar police and EoW report,” the CJI had said.

The NEET UG 2024 counselling process will commence on July 24. It “will take two-three months. It will start on July 24 or so,” the Solicitor General had said during the hearing the on July 18. The next hearing is slated for Monday.

NEET UG 2024 Result Live: SC Directs NTA to Upload Marks of All Students by Today Noon

On the CJI on July 18 directed the NTA to upload the marks of all students by Saturday (July 20) noon and said that the student’s identities must be masked. “You can have dummy roll numbers, so no student’s identity is disclosed. But let us see, centre-wise, what was the mark pattern. The result should be declared in relation to each centre separately,” the CJI had said.
