Netflix TV users are getting new features
Netflix realizes it has an audience that needs a different set of subtitles and can make changes now.
Netflix is rolling out a new feature for its TV users globally that gives them the option to customize the size and style of subtitles and closed captions.
As reported by TechCrunch, the new update allows users to choose from three sizes (small, medium and large) and four styles/colors (default white text option, drop shadow, light and contrast).
Earlier, Netflix Users could only access the customization options for subtitles and closed captioning via the web.
This update will improve the viewing experience of TV users. For example, setting the right size and style of subtitles can really help blind, deaf and hard of hearing viewers.
In the first quarter of last year, 77 percent of all streaming minutes globally occurred on large displays such as connected TVs, smart TVs and gaming consoles, according to streaming data analytics company Conviva.
“Today’s Netflix update comes nearly a year after the streamer launched badges for audio and subtitle description, as well as expanding to more than 11,000 hours of descriptive audio in more than 30 languages,” the report said.
