New Central Vista Office Space: The first building to be ready by April, the Center told Parliament

New Delhi: Delay of more than one year, the first government office place out of three general central secretariat buildings (CCS 1, 2 and 3), a part of the Central Vista Project, will be ready by the end of April, Modi The government informed Parliament on Thursday.

November 2023, the initial time limit for the completion of three buildings, not with other time limit, followed by other time limit. Recently, it was revised by May 2025.

Under the Modi government’s ambitious Central Vista redevelopment project, a general central secretariat (CCS), which includes 10 buildings, proposes to give houses to 51 ministries and departments.

DMK MP A. In response to a question about the new government office places from King, Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal, it was said that CCS will be ready by April 30, while CCS 1 and 2 would be completed by the end of June and July respectively.

The minister said that the fourth office building (CCS 10) will be completed by April 2026.

He said, “After the completion of the buildings, legal approval will be obtained for occupancy, including the evacuation of the fire and then these buildings will be kept to use various ministries/departments. The future use of the empty office buildings will be informed in the appointed time,” he said. Written response,

For the construction of CCS 1, 2 and 3, the Center approved Rs 3,690 crore in addition to Rs 690 crore for CCS 10 as per the information provided by the minister. The contract for CCS 1, 2 and 3 was provided to Larsen and Taubro for Rs 3,141.99 crore in October 2021.

For Rs 3,690 crore, the Center has spent Rs 3,081.6 crore on CCS 1, 2 and 3 and Rs 103.8 crore on CCS 10, the minister informed the Parliament.

According to ministry officials, the construction of CCS 1 and 2 is in advanced stages, while CCS 3 is undergoing electricity and finishing work.

The new office location has two levels of basement parking for eight-storey buildings (land and upper ground plus six storeys) and approximately 1,900 vehicles.

According to senior ministry officials, the project scale and its place gave a major challenge. The Central Public Works Department (CPWD), Ministry Construction Branch, is responsible for executing the Central Vista redevelopment project of Rs 20,000 crore.

A CPWD official said, “The first set of three office buildings has two levels of basement parking. Due to the high water table, we had to continuously overthrow the area to complete the construction. We had to be very careful in completing the construction work.”

Many underground utilities were also added to delay in transferring. A second CPWD official said on the condition of renovation, “There was a major stormy water drain, which completes the Delhi region of the entire Lutyens, where buildings are located. The drain and other utilities were to be transferred before the work begins.”

The second official said that logical issues led the delay due to the delay in securing permissions for tree gardens, construction of air pollution during winter, and project scale.
