Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI) ranks fifth in the country with a score of 72.45. Institute of Medical Sciences of Banaras Hindu University got 7th rank, King George Medical University Lucknow 9th and Institute of Medical Sciences, Aligarh Muslim University got 15th position.
In comparison to the 2020 rankings, SGPGI and IMS-AMU retained their positions, IMS-BHU slipped one rank and KGMU moved up one rank. However, each of the four centers improved their overall score this year.
All 50 medical institutions in government and private sector were evaluated. The ranking parameters broadly include majors such as teaching, learning and resources, research and professional practice, graduate outcomes, outreach and inclusivity and perception.
Among dental institutions, KGMU Dental Faculty is ranked fifth best in India, followed by IMS-BHU at 25th, IMS-AMU at 26th, Saraswati Dental College Lucknow at 27th and ITS Dental College Hospital & Research Center Greater Noida is ranked 40th. Place. 40 colleges had participated in the dental category.
Officials of the state medical education department said the achievement was encouraging but efforts were on to further improve their performance. He said that the state government is trying to encourage more and more medical institutions to participate in the rankings which are capable of assessing the capabilities.
A former DG Medical Education said that the improvement recorded by various medical education centers in the state is commendable but it should be used to promote the spirit of advancement.
“SGPGI Lucknow, for example, is more than 20 points behind AIIMS Delhi which is ranked best. However, the institute was just three points away from number three CMC Vellore. A meticulous analysis can help in identifying the shortcomings to bring about improvements,” he said.
