Purnia: Ahead of the 2024 general elections, the Chief Minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar It was ensured that the Bharatiya Janata Party would be reduced to less than 100 seats if all opposition parties, including the Congress, fought the elections unitedly. Addressing a ‘Mahagathbandhan’ rally in Bihar’s Purnia district on Saturday, the JD(U) chief said the Congress would have to take a quick decision in this regard.
“If all opposition parties, including the Congress, come together and fight the 2024 Lok Sabha elections unitedly, the BJP will fall short of 100 seats,” he said.
Kumar said, “But the Congress will have to take a quick decision in this regard. If you (Congress) accept my suggestion, we can restrict the BJP to less than 100 seats. If you don’t, you know what will happen.”

The chief minister claimed that his sole aim was to work for uniting the opposition to oust the BJP from power. “I will keep trying to make it a reality. There is a need to wipe out the BJP from the entire country,” he said.
Accusing the BJP of conspiring to break the country by dividing people on religious lines, Kumar said, “They are desperate to rewrite history. People know what they did during the freedom struggle. Shouldn’t be forgotten either.”

Referring to Upendra Kushwaha’s resignation from the Nitish Kumar-led party, Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav claimed that the BJP tried to spit on the JD(U), which it did with the Shiv Sena in Maharashtra. “But, the people of Bihar have taught them a lesson. Rejecting allegations of returning “Jungle Raj” to Bihar with the RJD, he said, “It is ‘Janata Raj’ that is going on in the state”.
