Outsiders entering tinsel town in 2019 via Vineet Srinivasan Malarwadi Arts ClubNivin made it to the big leagues with his hard work and determination. “I knew I had no one to catch my fall or push me. It made me more determined to make an identity. I realized that a script mattered most and to understand that It took a fair amount of reading to understand how to choose a script that works on turnstiles and suits me too,” he says.
He emphasized that his friendship with Vineet has helped him further understand the industry. “Vineet and I share a unique transaction. He gave me three films, which helped me achieve a strong foothold in cinema,” says Nivin. Admitting that he made mistakes, he says he is trying to figure out what kind of permutations and subjects do well on screen and when.
He had the ability to effortlessly breathe life into characters like Vinod (Thattthin Marayathu), Mountain (Shanti Oshana), George (Premam), Kuttan (Bangalore days), Jude (hello join) and Biju (Action Hero Biju), which made him a fan-favourite.
Nivin as Akbar
- Geetu Mohandas says he chose Nivin for that unconventional and difficult role of Akbar muthon Because he saw an actor who was not afraid to experiment and move away from his comfort zone. “It is when an actor is uncomfortable that he really pushes himself to tap his true potential. I saw that this happens in Nivin. Fearless and keen to direct from the director’s point of view, Nivin trusted my story and it made a big difference. Now look at his choice. He is acting alongside Ram, director of peranabu, I am sure this will prove to be another milestone in his career.”
That was when Nivin surprised everyone by acting Churn. Nivin says he listens to the director. So, when Geetu Mohandas wanted Nivin to continue in this character, he did exactly that. “All the actors had a workshop before they went on to shoot. The process was to find Akbar within me. We all have different emotions in our mind and it is the job of an actor to harness the character in the right way to bring it to life on screen.”
However, for the character of Mattancherry Moidu in filmmaker Rajeev Ravi’s upcoming film thuramukham, Nivin had to change his process. “Rajeev atton Want their actors to come without any preconceived notions and turn into characters during production. He emphasizes a biological change. I have benefited from the way Geetu and Rajeev portrayed the character.”
She has also collaborated with director Ram for the latter’s next project after the critically acclaimed Tamil film peranabu, “I always wanted to work with Ram sir. When he narrated the story, I thought it was a film that should be done. It was a pleasure shooting with the team in Rameswaram where we wrapped up the first schedule. The second phase will start soon in Chennai. I am looking forward to it.”
Nivin believes that each character requires a different process. “I try my best to live up to the expectations of my audience and give my best! There is a fire inside that forces me to work harder, to ensure that I am not just another name in cinema .
