NLCIL signs MoU with TNC India for reuse of mined out land

NLC India Ltd (NLCIL), a Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE), has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The Nature Conservancy India Solutions Pvt Ltd (TNC India) to re-generate the mined-out land. Will assist in the research work related to preparation. Establishment of renewable energy projects.

According to a press note, NLCIL Executive Director (Mines) Rajasekhara Reddy and TNC India Managing Director Annapurna Vancheswaran signed the MoU in the presence of NLCIL Chairman-cum-Managing Director Prasanna Kumar Motupalli at Neyveli recently. ,

The MoU will further strengthen NLCIL’s efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and combat climate change, in line with India’s commitment to a low carbon economy and increased use of renewable energy sources under COP 26.

According to an official, NLCIL plans to reuse its mined-out land by setting up renewable energy projects and take action to reduce carbon emissions. The SiteRite tool developed by TNC and its partners will help determine the suitability of land to be used for renewable energy projects.

This partnership with TNC India will enable NLCIL to leverage its technical expertise and global experience and work collaboratively to develop solutions to transition to green energy pathways and address some of India’s most pressing environmental challenges .

The collaboration is expected to benefit both parties and contribute to the country’s goal of clean energy transition and combating climate change.
