No corruption in Karnataka elections, job is biggest uncle: NDTV-CSDS survey

NDTV-CSDS had conducted a survey regarding the Karnataka elections between 20 and 28 April. Voting takes place on May 10 and its results come on May 13. Let’s know the findings of NDTV-CSDS survey:-

The NDTV-CSDS survey shows that 28 per cent people believe that unemployment is the biggest issue in this Karnataka election. Poor is the second big issue after unemployment. 25 percent of the people involved in the survey express concern about poverty. Where jobs are a big problem for young nonconformists. At the same time, poverty is a big match for engagement in rural Karnataka. At least 67 percent of the people surveyed believe that things have been sold in their areas in the last five years.

What is people’s opinion on corruption?
51 per cent of people participating in the survey believe that corruption has increased in the five years, while 35 per cent say that corruption has remained the same as before. Many trade brokers (41%) say corruption has increased since the last election in 2019.

What do people think about naughty?
The NDTV opinion poll also asked people to rate the BJP government’s decision to scrap the 4 per cent quota for Muslims and bring in new quotas for Lingayats, Vokkaligas. The survey found that only a third of people are aware of the new details decisions. According to the survey, supporters of the new quota policy are mostly in favor of the BJP, while those opposing it support the Congress.

Effect of controversy over Tipu Sultan?
Questions were also asked in this survey on the controversy related to the death of Tipu Sultan. The survey found that one in 3 respondents were aware of this, while 74% believed that raising the controversy increased communal tension in the state. 29% of people aware of the controversy believe the issue is being raised appropriately. The survey shows that these 29% people are mainly BJP supporters. While most of the people opposing this protest are towards the Congress.

Miley also “regional discrimination”
“Regional discrimination” also came up as an issue in the NDTV-CSDS opinion poll. 41 per cent of the people surveyed believe that discrimination is practiced in North Karnataka. Also 66 per cent people feel that Bangalore is given more importance than other regions.

Work not done regarding road and electricity
Regarding power supply, 46 percent people believe that it has improved. 43 percent people said that the power supply is the same as before. At the same time, 10 percent people believe that the power supply has become worse than before. In the survey, 51 people have expressed complete satisfaction with the supply of Priya. While 14 per cent people believed that the supply of drinking water had deteriorated earlier. Majority of the people surveyed say that there is no improvement in the condition of government affiliated and schools.

How many accounts from state and central government?
The overall performance of the State and the Center was also questioned in the survey. 27 per cent people say they are ‘fully attached’ to the BJP government in Karnataka. While 24 percent people have invested in a broker, which shows the complete satisfaction of the government. In the survey, 36 per cent respondents said they are “somewhat constrained” by the BJP government in the state, while 42% said they are “somewhat constrained” by the BJP government at the Centre. Opinion polls show that beneficiaries of both central and state schemes favor the BJP for welfare schemes.

How was the survey done?
A total of 2143 people were interviewed for the survey in 82 elections in 21 assembly constituencies of Karnataka. Fieldwork could not be completed in two elections. The field work of the survey was coordinated by Veena Devi and field visits in Karnataka were carried out by Nagesh KL.

The assembly constituencies are randomly selected using ‘probability proportional to size (probability proportional to size)’. In this the probability of selection of a unit is proportional to its size. 4 electors were chosen from each constituency. 40 were randomly selected from each polling center.
