Union Minister for Women and Child Development Smriti Irani on Tuesday schooled Congress leader and Maharashtra Women and Child Development Minister Yashomati Thakur during a program in Mumbai.
The entire episode was caught on camera and the video is now being widely shared on social media. People on the internet trolled the Congress leader for his remarks on Nagaland.
Yashomati Thakur said, “We have agreements with some states and countries, but with others, especially children coming from Nagaland… women coming from Nagaland.” any notification. So Nagaland is also one of the states from where children come here and we ‘deport’ them without any notice because we don’t have MoUs even within the states.” In Mumbai on Tuesday at the Regional Conference of Stakeholders.
Smriti Irani soon interrupted the leader and corrected him saying that within a country, nomenclature like exile is not used. “You should take care of your words…It is my humble request.” “We should keep in mind that Nagaland is a part of India and secondly, Indians are not exiled within India,” the Union minister said.
Union Minister Smriti Irani participated in the event as part of the West Zone Consultative Meeting to deliberate on Mission Shakti, Vatsalya and Poshan 2.0 with representatives of State Governments and stakeholders in Mumbai. He has also shared pictures of the event on Twitter.
