No domestic help: O’Micron scrambles his time to balance ‘work at home’ with WFH

With the cases of COVID19 taking a heavy toll and the situation worsening in the country due to the fear of Omicron, India is heading towards a third wave. With the rapid rise in COVID cases, many workplaces and offices have already given ‘work from home’ to their employees, while many at home have refused domestic help. Due to long working hours, people are juggling between different responsibilities. Due to the absence of maids, people are finding it difficult to complete their office and household chores.

Instead of ‘work from home’, it is high time that all family members start ‘work at home’ as well. Dividing responsibilities not only helps in reducing work pressure but also makes it easier to manage professional and personal commitments. Cleanliness, cooking and babysitting are some of the important tasks that need to be shared. The pandemic has also changed our fitness and exercise regime, but contributing to household chores helps us maintain our fitness and health regime.

Multitasking and playing multiple roles at the same time gets busy gradually for a person. The pandemic has left working women acutely stressed and overwhelmed by the balance between full-time office work and household chores. Working moms have to compromise on their sleep to complete the given task.

It is certainly not easy to manage office, home and kids at the same time, thus even distribution of duties among family members can be a relief for them. Ultimately, mental load is a mental health problem and dividing work and pressure can help a person manage things better and properly.
