It is a common belief that declaring holidays in schools brings happiness to children. However, a Class VI student of an institute in Kerala has proved that not all children will be happy with the holidays as she has requested the district collector here not to declare holidays one after the other.

The student, who introduced herself as Safoora Naushad on Sunday, sent an e-mail to Wayanad District Collector A Geeta requesting her not to declare Wednesday as a holiday. The “unique” request of the little ones has gone viral on social media after the collector shared a screenshot of the mail congratulating the student on his official Facebook account.

“…it’s really difficult to stay at home for four days in a row. Please conduct class on Wednesday..,” the girl said in the email. After the weekend holidays, educational institutions in this highly rated district did not function even on Monday as the administration declared a local holiday due to heavy rains. As the state government has declared a holiday on Tuesday due to Muharram, schools in Wayanad will remain closed for four consecutive days, prompting the student to send a request mail to the collector.

The collector praised the student and said that our children are smart and their world is very big. “The future of this country and this world is safe in their hands,” he said. He said that not only students but also parents, teachers, government and society can be proud of this generation.
