The national capital has witnessed a “dry March” after a gap of four years as there was no rain for the entire month.

An IMD official told news agency IANS that in the last 120 years, such a drought was witnessed only 12 times in the month of March. The last time it was in 2018, when Delhi did not receive rain in the month of March.

According to the Meteorological Department. The normal rainfall in the month of March is 15.9 mm. However, 0.0 mm of rain was recorded during March. Actual rainfall was -100 per cent below normal over the long period average.

In terms of temperature, the highest maximum temperature was recorded on March 30 at 39.2 degree Celsius. The highest ever record for the month was recorded on March 31, 1945 at 40.6 °C.
