Yadav’s statement has come as a relief to the JD(U), which recently dumped its parliamentary board chief Upendra Kushwaha alleging that a ‘deal’ has been struck with the alliance partner.
Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav on Wednesday said he was in no hurry to replace his boss Nitish Kumar, dismissing speculation that his RJD was looking to oust the aging JD(U) leader.
Yadav, who is in his early 30s, also tactfully deflected reporters’ questions on whether he felt “betrayed” by the mediating of some top JD(U) leaders that the septuagenarian Kumar will serve his term ending in 2025. Will complete a five-year term and “able to lead the Grand Alliance till 2030”.
“What did he say wrong? In fact he (Nitish) is quite capable. And the longer he stays, the richer his experience will be. I am in no hurry,” said the RJD leader, who joined the BJP in August last year. He had returned as deputy CM after the JD(U) walked out of the leadership-led NDA.
The statement of Yadav, the younger son and successor of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad, comes as a breather for the JD(U), which recently dumped its parliamentary board chief Upendra Kushwaha alleging that there was an alliance with the alliance partner. The “deal” is done. ,
Besides this, some RJD MLAs, who are not known for their restraint in speech, have also issued statements that Yadav will assume office after Holi, which falls in the first week of March.
Yadav said he was focused on ensuring the BJP’s defeat in next year’s general elections and ensuring that “they do not win a single seat” out of the state’s 40 Lok Sabha seats.
He also highlighted former chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi’s expressed desire that his son Santosh Suman, who is a minister in the cabinet from Hindustani Awam Morcha’s quota, be considered for the highest seat of power.
“Is it a sin to have ambitions for our children? Don’t you all want to see your sons rise higher than you? Commented on the young, but wise, politician.
However, Kushwaha, who announced at a press conference at his residence that he would embark on a statewide tour starting next week, said the RJD and Tejashwi were pulling their weight and weakening the chief minister.
“Only yesterday the CM had to wait for two hours for his cabinet member (Tejashwi) at a function. This was no coincidence. Kushwaha claimed it was a rebuke following statements by some top JD(U) leaders trying to downplay the indispensability of Kumar, who has since formed a new outfit Rashtriya Lok Janata Dal.
The former union minister said, “When the RJD has the cheek to insult Kumar while he is still the CM, I have what’s in store for the JD(U).” Was preparing to return to NDA.
However, responding to a pointed question, he refused to attend some meetings that Union Home Minister Amit Shah was to address in Bihar later this week.
“Those are the programs of the BJP. I cannot be a part when I am not a member of that party.
Kushwaha heaped some praise on senior BJP leader and former Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, who addressed a press conference to highlight the Union Budget’s promises for Bihar and rejected the grand alliance’s claims that it had shortchanged the state. Has gone.
“Kushwaha has decided to resign as a member of the Legislative Council even though he has been nominated to the House by the Governor and the anti-defection law does not apply to him. What is the contrast with Nitish ji, who keeps changing allies but sticks to power,” said Prasad, who is also the local MP.
