“The mapping of schools, carried out as part of the National Education Policy (NEP)-2020, will improve the education system in the state itself. The main objective of the mapping is to ensure that specialist teachers are available to provide quality education to all students. Yes,” maintained the minister. The Education Minister inaugurated a three-day workshop for MLAs at the State Secretariat here to create awareness on NEP-2020.

MLAs from Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam and East Godavari districts attended the workshop on the first day.

In this program some teachers got into a scuffle between the MLC and the Education Minister, after which the former walked out. The teacher MLC alleged that the government had already decided to shut down the schools and the workshop was only to formalize things.

“You are not listening to our views on this issue,” protested the teacher MLC.

The minister told the MLC, “Why are you disturbing the meeting? If you are not interested, you can go.”

Later, the minister told his party MLAs that various misconceptions were being created about the mapping exercise of schools.

The minister told the MLAs, “All of you should refute the campaign against it. Make it clear that no school or Anganwadi center will be closed nor any teacher’s post will be suppressed.”

Deputy Chief Minister (Revenue) Dharmana Krishnadas, Ministers S Appala Raju, T Vanitha, Special Chief Secretary (Education) B Rajashekhar, School Education Commissioner S Suresh Kumar and others participated.
