Noida: Incidents of fire are continuously increasing and the fire department is taking steps to prevent it.

Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Buddha Nagar has an abundance of high-rise buildings, schools, malls, bars and industrial areas as well as open market shops. Even a small spark can cause a big fire in any building in the area.

The fire department prepared a list of all those who either do not have No Objection Certificate (NOC) or lack fire fighting equipment in their premises.

After this initiative, people are actively involved in removing all the shortcomings related to fire safety.

According to last year’s data, 550 people in Gautam Budh Nagar did not have fire-fighting arrangements in their shops, restaurants, malls, bars, schools, etc., or did not have a fire NOC issued by the state fire department.

Along with this, notices have been issued to about 300 high rise societies.

Out of these 300 societies, 250 have sent back the report of proper arrangement of fire fighting in their premises to the department.

Speaking to IANS, Chief Fire Officer (CFO) of Gautam Buddha Nagar Pradeep Kumar termed the area as a sensitive district. He said that fire stations have been set up at various places to make arrangements for fire safety.

He said there was no scope for negligence as the district is the “show window” of UP.

He said that notices were sent to more than 800 people to obtain fire NOCs and remove related deficiencies and people are doing so.

Kumar said that public awareness campaigns will be conducted in schools, marketplaces, malls and public places in Noida and Greater Noida so that people can keep themselves safe in such cases and prepare them to be alert.

He said his team conducted surprise checks to assess such deficiencies.

He conveyed that he had suggested the Headquarters to enact a law, which ensures action is taken against those submitting false affidavits to the department that fulfill all necessary requirements.

He said that many times it has been seen that people install substandard and cheap fire fighting equipment in their buildings to fool the department.

Kumar said that if such people are fined, they will maintain the equipment efficiently which will reduce the number of fire incidents.
