Noida schools ordered to hold online classes till November 8 amid fears of smog

In view of the rising pollution in the National Capital Region, all schools in Noida and Greater Noida were on Thursday ordered to conduct online classes for students up to class VIII till November 8.

District Inspector of Schools (DIOS) Gautam Buddh Nagar Dharamveer Singh also directed schools to conduct online classes whenever possible for students of classes 9 to 12.

The order further states that all outdoor activities, including sports and meetings, shall be strictly prohibited in all schools.

“All schools have been asked to teach students up to class VIII through online mode. They have also been asked to switch to online mode for students of classes 9 to 12,” Singh said.

However, outdoor activities like sports are not allowed in schools till November 8, the DIOS told PTI.

According to the official, at present there are 1,800 schools including higher education facilities in Noida and Greater Noida in Gautam Buddh Nagar.

an order from air quality management commission (CAQM), however, exempts BS-VI vehicles as well as those used for essential and emergency services.

According to the order, the state government can decide whether to close schools, ban non-emergency business activities and regulate vehicular traffic on an odd-even basis.
