Sangli A court in Maharashtra’s Sangli district has issued a non-bailable warrant against Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) Raj Thackeray, ahead of the deadline for the Uddhav Thackeray-led Maharashtra government to have loudspeakers.
The warrant was issued in a 14-year-old case.

Issuing a non-bailable warrant on April 6, the Judicial Magistrate, First Class at Shirala in Sangli district, asked the Mumbai Police Commission to arrest the MNS chief and produce him before the court.
Judge issues warrant against Thackeray and another MNS leader Shirish Parkar Mumbai Police Assistant Public Prosecutor, Jyoti Patil said that the commissioner and Kherwadi police station respectively failed to present themselves before the court during the proceedings of the case.
He said the court has asked the police to enforce the warrant before June 8 and produce both the leaders in the court.
In 2008, MNS workers staged a sit-in protest. Shirala Against Thackeray’s arrest in the ongoing agitation demanding priority in jobs to local youth. A local MNS functionary claimed that there is a government rule which states that political cases before 2012 should be withdrawn.
However, the matter is being taken up as Thackeray raised the issue of loudspeakers over mosques, he said.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray held a meeting with state Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil over law and order situation in the backdrop of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) leader Raj Thackeray’s deadline to remove loudspeakers from mosques, news agency PTI reported. ANI reported on Tuesday. The Chief Minister ordered that the police should take all possible measures to maintain law and order, do not wait for orders from anyone, ANI added.
