The Jammu and Kashmir Police will shift migrant workers to the nearest security forces installations in the Valley for safety as terrorists continue to target them. The move comes in the wake of the third terrorist attack on non-locals within 24 hours, in which two laborers lost their lives and one was injured.
Inspector General of Police (Kashmir) Vijay Kumar, in a message sent to all district police, directed the non-local laborers to be shifted to the nearest police, central paramilitary or military establishments.
This matter is of paramount importance, said the message to 10 districts of the Valley.
It was not immediately clear how many individuals would be transferred, whether they would be confined to security camps, or if the message was mandatory.
On Sunday, in Wanpoh area of Kulgam district of South Kashmir, terrorists entered the rented house of laborers and opened fire on them indiscriminately. Two people were killed and one was injured in the attack.
The deceased have been identified as Raja Reshi Dev and Joginder Reshi Dev, while one Chunchun Reshi Dev was injured. All three are residents of Bihar.
This is the third terror attack on non-local workers in less than 24 hours. Terrorists shot dead a street vendor from Bihar and a carpenter from Uttar Pradesh on Saturday evening. So far no organization has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
