Not a single police posting was done in Punjab without paying money: Former MLA Navjot Kaur Sidhu

The online tussle between Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and former Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh continued on Saturday as fresh allegations were leveled.

Former MLA Navjot Kaur Sidhu said that not a single posting in the police department in Punjab happened without a “gift or payment” to Arosa Alam, a longtime personal friend of the Captain and Pakistani journalist.

Congress president Navjot Singh Sidhu’s wife slammed Amarinder for his relationship with Alam, saying he had taken all that money to her country (Pakistan), and that the captain should also “go to Pakistan and enjoy his time with him.” should be taken”.

“Not a single posting happened without paying Arosa or gifting her. She has taken all the money with her to Pakistan, and the Captain should also go there and enjoy his time there with her. Our point was never heeded as I never let my husband (Navjot Singh Sidhu) get close to Arosa.

Randhawa had said on Friday that the Punjab government has ordered a probe to find out whether Alam has links with the ISI. This drew a sharp reaction from the deposed Chief Minister.

Meanwhile, on Friday, Captain’s media advisor Raveen Thukral shared a photo of Alam shaking hands with Congress President Sonia Gandhi.

Responding to this, Randhawa said that it is an old picture of the two and he never met Alam personally.

“This is an old picture of Arosa Alam and Sonia Gandhi. The Captain knows that I have never met Arosa Alam. I am still close to the captain. This is an international issue, not a state level one. There will be an inquiry, and some questions will be asked,” Randhawa said.

In a now-deleted tweet, Randhawa, who also holds the Home portfolio, had claimed that Singh has been friends with Alam over the years, and that she lived in India for several years and her visa was extended from time to time by the Centre.

Randhawa had also referred to Amarinder’s previous statements as chief minister, when he expressed concern over Punjab facing threats from across the border with the seizure of several drones and ammunition.

Amarinder responded quickly, questioning why the deputy CM was making claims now and did not raise them when he was a minister in his cabinet.
