Not against Tharoor: Kerala leaders on Congress president election

Senior Congress leaders in Kerala on Wednesday said they were not against Shashi Tharoor, who has made an aggressive bid for the party’s top post, but believed veteran leader Mallikarjun Kharge is better suited for the post.

Senior party leaders and MPs, K Sudhakaran and K Muraleedharan also said that they were only expressing their personal views as to whom they were supporting and that everyone in the party was free to decide whom they wanted to vote for. Huh.

He was responding to statements made by Thiruvananthapuram MP Tharoor in an interview with a TV channel, where he said that the party leaders in Kerala are against him in relation to the Congress Presidential elections. He also said in the interview that he has been asked by many people to contest the elections because they want how the party is doing at present.

Responding to his statements, Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President Sudhakaran told the media in Kozhikode that he only expressed his personal views as to whom he supported and that he had not issued any instructions as to which candidate should be nominated by the KPCC. Sudhakaran also said that he was not aware that party leaders in Kerala were opposing Tharoor, as claimed by the Thiruvananthapuram MP.

Speaking to the media, Muraleedharan said that there was no official or rebel candidate and all PCC representatives are free to vote as they wish as it is a secret ballot.

He also said that Sudhakaran only expressed his personal views. Muraleedharan further said that people like him in the party want someone who is closely related to the general public and knows their mind and Kharge was someone who “worked hard from the grassroots to rise through the party ranks.” has risen”.

“We are not against Tharoor, but he has little connection with the common people,” he said. “He (Tharoor) cannot be blamed for this. This is probably because of his diplomatic background. But that does not mean that we are denying it or denying it. We need everyone – of simple or humble origins and with a diplomatic background. The party needs everyone,” he added.

Muraleedharan also said that he agrees with Tharoor’s views that there should be elections or elections for various posts in the party and such a change will be seen in the Congress, especially in Kerala, in the future. Regarding Kharge’s age, Muraleedharan said that “if mind and body can go together, then age is not an issue”.

“People like me, in the present situation, believe that Kharge is the best person to lead the party with courage,” he said.

Voting for the post of Congress President is to be held on October 17. The counting of votes will take place on October 19 and the results are expected on the same day. More than 9,000 Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) representatives make up the electorate.
