Hyderabad:
Hyderabad Cricket Association chief and former India captain Mohammad Azharuddin has said that the stampede for tickets for the India-Australia T20 match on September 25 was not the association’s fault.
“It’s not that easy to sit in this room to discuss. We haven’t done anything wrong. We are with the injured fans and HCA will take full care of them,” the former India captain last said. In the evening, Telangana Sports Minister V Srinivas sat next to Goud, who sought the report.
Four people were injured, and Police is also planning action Against HCA, which is the organizing body.
Mohammad Azharuddin further said, “I will give a complete report of ticket sales, availability and other details to the minister and he will tell you what is right and what is wrong.”
“There are going to be problems. Yes, the public wants to watch the match after a gap of three years. But, again, not all of them can do that,” the veteran said.
This is the first international match in Hyderabad since 2019.
“We have nothing to hide. But at the same time, we have to make sure that the game goes ahead,” he said.
India vs Australia match will be played this Saturday at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
Yesterday around 15,000 people had gathered in the ground for tickets. News agency PTI reported that some of them had arrived early in the morning. But the situation spiraled out of control and a stampede broke out. Police lathi-charged to disperse the crowd.
