Ms Sharma had approached the Supreme Court to club several First Information Reports (FIRs) registered across the country.

The court refused to entertain her plea stating that “the conscience of the court is not satisfied”, following which Ms Sharma withdrew her petition.

The court said Ms Sharma’s remarks were “disturbing”.

When Mr Singh said his client had apologised, the court lashed out saying he should have been back on air and apologized to the country.

“It was too late to take them back… and that too, they took back their remarks conditionally, ‘if sentiments are hurt'”, the Supreme Court remarked.

The court said that the purpose of these statements was to incite.
