Moquim has two weeks to respond to the show cause notice

Bhubaneswar: Four days later Congress MLA Mohamed Moquimi Voted in favor of NDA’s presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee ,OPCC) issued a show cause notice on Friday accusing him of campaigning against the party and its programmes, a charge denied by the MLA.
Though the party did not directly mention Mokim voting for Murmu as the reason for the notice, nor does the timing of such action against the Barabati-Cuttack MLA indicate Congress’s unhappiness towards him.
“You are working deliberately and campaigning against the programs and decisions of Congress. You are often addressing electronic media, deliberately working to bring down the prestige of Congress. You are campaigning against Congress and against it. office bearers,” the notice read.
“Please inform OPCC President Sharat Patnaik within two weeks as to why disciplinary action will not be taken against you in accordance with the Constitution of the Indian National Congress (INC) and its rules,” it said.
It is to be noted that Mokim and Patnaik are believed to have been face-to-face as the former was an aspirant for the post of OPCC president. A senior Congress leader said that Mokim’s action smacks of sabotage and indiscipline.
The Congress leader said, “He should have followed the party line and voted for Yashwant Sinha. But he disregarded the decision and discipline of the party, which gave a wrong signal. Though there was no whip, the party supported Sinha.” announced its decision.” ,
Mokim said that he had not done any wrong. “As I said earlier, I voted for Murmu ji for the highest post because she belongs to my own state. She is the daughter of our soil. I listened to my conscience and supported Murmu ji. For me, soil (Soil) comes first and party comes later,” Mokim said in response to the show-cause notice.
Mokim, a first-time MLA, said he would respond to the notice soon. Asked whether his vote for Murmu was an anti-party activity, Mokim replied in the negative. “I have not yet seen the notice. Our party did not issue a whip to vote for Yashwant Sinha. Then how can my vote for Murmu ji be considered as anti-party activity?” Mokim asked.
