The Odisha government has planned to organize city festivals in the 2023 FIH men’s hockey host cities Bhubaneswar and Rourkela. World cup.

The decision was taken during the FIH World Cup organizing committee meeting on Friday.
In the meeting chaired by Chief Secretary SC Mohapatra and Hockey India President Dilip Tirkey, the heads of all departments reviewed the progress of various activities related to the smooth and successful conduct of the event.
Apart from city festivals, district level festivals are also being planned in major cities across the state to celebrate the mega sporting event.
It was revealed during the meeting that commercial flight operations to Rourkela are expected to start next month. An official said that provision is being made for charter flights between the two locations for the participating teams.
He said that special buses will also run during the World Cup to ease transportation for players, officials and spectators.
In the meeting, Mohapatra directed various departments to complete the projects aligning with the marquee event before the stipulated time. The emphasis was on connectivity and hospitality, showcasing Odisha as the land of heritage and culture, apart from being the hub of hockey.
In the meeting, it was decided to organize sports carnivals and programs at the district level in collaboration with schools. Mohapatra also focused on adopting green practices at the two places.
The FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup will be held in Bhubaneswar and Rourkela from January 13 to 29, 2023.
