Oil India signs MoU with leading NE universities to boost research – Times of India

Duliajan: Oil India Limited and the five major universities of Northeast A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed for creating meaningful industry-academic collaborations. The main objective of the MoU is to promote Research and to understand the development capabilities in universities and the geology of the region, the central PSU said in a release on Thursday.
OIL on Wednesday signed agreements with Gauhati University, Dibrugarh University, Manipur University, Nagaland University and Rajiv Gandhi University at its field headquarters in Duliajan, Assam.
OIL chairperson Ranjit Rath pointed to the need for such strategic collaboration to synergize the diverse efforts of industry and academia.
Rath said this was necessary for capacity building and to create new ventures for an energy efficient India in the future, to meet the growing demand for oil and gas.
The main focus of the agreement is in line with Hydrocarbon Vision 2030 to create a platform for industry-academic collaboration, which can go a long way in not only creating efficient and effective workforce but also working together for the country’s energy security. .
Rath said the academic expertise of these prestigious institutions will support the business activities of the firm, while the practical capability of OIL will aid in academic research.
