Ola CEO announces ‘Make-in-India’ electric car with over 500km battery range

Ola Electric’s first car has been in the news for quite some time now and there are many rumors regarding the production and launch of the car. However, now the company’s CEO Bhavish Agarwal has confirmed the launch of the car on August 15, the occasion of Independence Day 2022. The confirmation came through a short video shared by Agarwal on his Twitter handle. Apart from this, he also revealed that the company will introduce two other ‘new products’ on Independence Day. There is no information on these products, but it is expected that these will be more affordable electric two-wheelers.

Agarwal posted a video of Ola’s impending electric car on Twitter. In the video, a red colored car is running on the road with only the rear wheels visible. Aggarwal wrote, “It’s still there my friend. See you on August 15th at 2 PM.”

The electric car that was teased earlier is going to have a neat profile with a strong character line in the middle, based on what is shown in the video. It doesn’t seem to have a door for the second row, which raises the question whether it will be a two-seat model or will have standard rear seats.

The second product is speculated to be a cheaper version of the S1 Pro scooter. Ola may change the more affordable S1 Pro and release it in a new avatar, given that the EV maker has stopped selling the S1 despite the launch.

It should be noted that August 15 has been an important date in the history of Ola Electric, hence the launch date for the new vehicle. The significance of the date is understandable as the EV maker launched its first electric scooter on this date. The Ola S1 and Ola S1 Pro were both spotted for the first time on a date. However, the company is selling only the S1 Pro model in India.
