A third user explained, “The phenomenon is named Sun Dog. It is caused by the refraction of sunlight into ice crystals in the atmosphere”. The fourth simply commented, “Nature is great!!”

Meanwhile, according to Newsweek, the Sun’s halo, also known as the ’22 degree halo’, is an optical phenomenon. They are commonly observed in cold environments and are caused by the refraction of sunlight into millions of hexagonal ice crystals suspended in the atmosphere. It takes the form of a ring around the Sun or the Moon with a radius of about 22 degrees.
