Omicron’s fear may fall on hotel bookings in January-March

The Hotel Association of India in its outlook for the coming year has said that bookings among business travelers are expected to be impacted during January-March due to Omicron fears.

“The sentiment among business travelers is currently low due to Omicron fear and is expected to take a toll on bookings during the January-March 2022 quarter,” said MP Bezbaruah, General Secretary, Hotel Association of India.

He observed that 2021 has been a year of hope, survival and subtle improvement for the hotel industry in India.

“The easing of local restrictions while ensuring an aggressive vaccination campaign as well as the implementation of strict protocols by hotels to ensure safety and hygiene has brought a great relief and confidence boost among the traveling community, ” They said.

“As far as leisure places are concerned, the rate per room has also largely returned to pre-COVID levels.

Mr. Bezbarua said, “Hotels across all categories in metros maintain average rates and are more likely to return to normal prices by the end of this financial year.”
