New Delhi:
A brutal murder was caught on camera on Saturday evening, where a man was brutally stabbed to death by a group of men in northeast Delhi’s Sunder Nagri area.
Manish, the man who was murdered, was a resident of Sunder Nagri, along with the three main suspects – Alam, Bilal and Faizan – who have been arrested by the police.
A year ago Manish’s mobile phone was snatched and his throat and stomach were attacked with a knife. Police had arrested two accused Qasim and Mohsin and their family members were continuously pressurizing Manish to withdraw the case. He also allegedly threatened his family. Manish was to appear in court on 28 September, and family members of both the accused reached Manish’s house and said that they would kill him if he did not withdraw the case.
However, Manish gave his testimony in the court. Three days later he was murdered outside the house.
Police say that those who threatened Manish’s family at his house are also being identified and they will be arrested soon.
In the CCTV footage of the incident, a group of men are seen walking in a dimly lit street. Manish walks into the frame from the opposite direction when one of them suddenly grabs the collar and slaps him.
A few seconds later, the three men holding him start stabbing Manish over and over again.
Two men, sitting on a bike and a chair, witness the shocking murder and do not intervene as the group ruthlessly stabs Manish a few meters away.
Some men can also be seen passing by the group, stopping for a while to watch the gruesome sight.
In a moment, three men are seen walking away from Manish, still wielding their knives, only for one of them to return after receiving his hat. He hits her again several times, and Manish can be seen trying to stop him as he lies helplessly on the ground.
A man eventually tells the group to move away from Manish, and they threaten to stab their knives in Manish’s direction before leaving. Group leaves lanes in the same file without conflict.
Police said Manish was soon rushed to a hospital, where he was declared “brought dead”. He said legal action has been initiated and further investigation is on.
Locals say that although a police post has been set up in their area, snatching and stabbing is common. Angry locals allege that illegal weapons are hidden in a nearby chicken market, and snatching, stabbing and dacoity are carried out in the area.
