On camera, Tamil Nadu traffic police slap a food delivery agent, transferred

The policeman slapped the food delivery person twice.

Coimbatore:

A traffic constable was shifted to Coimbatore’s police control room on Saturday after a video clip showing him slapping a food delivery man on a busy road went viral on social media.

Sathish, a Grade-1 constable attached to the Singanallur police station, slapped the delivery person at the traffic junction on Avinashi Road on Friday.

Senior police officers swung into action and shifted the constable to the control room.

Mohansundaram, 38, works as a delivery partner with food aggregator Swiggy for the past two years.

On Friday evening, Mohansundaram noticed that a private school bus driver was speeding and recklessly driving. The bus was about to hit two two-wheelers and a passerby near a mall on a busy road.

As soon as he questioned the driver, there was a traffic jam for some time.

Video recorded by another passenger showed the policeman twice abusing and slapping the food deliveryman, snatching his mobile phone, while also damaging the motorcycle.

Sathish reportedly asked Mohanasundaram if he knew who was the owner of the school bus and if any vehicular traffic problems arise, the police would look into it.

Based on a complaint by Mohansundaram to the city police commissioner officer on Saturday, the authorities shifted Sathish to the control room, police said.
