AAP MLA Atishi said that BJP is in power in MCD for the last 15 years and they have turned Delhi into a city of garbage.
Delhi’s ruling Aam Aadmi Party on Tuesday staged a protest against the BJP-run municipal corporation by burning effigies of “BJP ke kuda ka Ravana” at 3,500 places on the eve of Dussehra. Blaming the BJP for the national capital’s waste, AAP leaders burnt effigies as per Dussehra rituals where effigies of Ravana are burnt as a symbol of ending negativity.
The protest was led by AAP MCD in-charge and MLA Durgesh Pathak.
During the dharna, AAP leader Sanjeev Jha burnt an effigy at Tiranga Chowk of Nathu Colony in his assembly constituency Burari. After this, senior AAP leader and MLA Atishi burnt an effigy in the IG camp of her constituency Kalkaji.
“The BJP-ruled MCD in its 15-year rule has turned Delhi into a city of garbage. Our protest is a wake-up call to BJP which is sleeping like Kumbhakarna and see how their misrule and apathy has caused all kinds of trouble to Delhiites,” Jha said.
Atishi said, “People want Delhi to be garbage free; The burning of Ravana’s effigy today is a symbol of how the people want to free themselves from the BJP rule in MCD and oust them from power. People are proud that CM Arvind Kejriwal has transformed schools, hospitals, electricity and water supply in Delhi; They know that if AAP comes to power in MCD, Delhi will also become garbage free.
“BJP is in power in MCD for the last 15 years and they have made Delhi a city of garbage. When someone enters Delhi, three huge garbage mountains welcome them,” she said.
