‘Only Mistake Axar Patel Made Today Was…’: Jaffer Points Out A Big Mistake, Spinner Clarifies

In the middle of the third day of the ongoing Test in Kanpur India And New Zealand saw a dynamic change in pace. After a solid start of 151 runs, the Kiwis batting looked blunt the night before, against a bowling attack torn to pieces and pieces. It was mainly left-arm spinner Axar Patel, who took his fifth five-wicket haul, helping India bundle out for 296 with a first innings lead of 49 rums.

The Gujarat cricketer became India’s bowler to score five half-centuries in the first four Tests. After the stump, Akshar received the match ball as a memento with the description of the game written on it. But a mistake was made and former India opener and domestic legend Wasim Jaffer pointed it out. He took to Twitter and told the spinner that the date written on the ball 27 October 2021 is wrong.

The former cricketer posted a picture of Axar holding the ball and wrote, “The only mistake Axar Patel made today was putting the wrong date on the match ball. It’s November 27, Bapu.”

However, Akshar clarified that it was not him but teammate Suryakumar Yadav who had written the wrong date.

“It was not me…@surya_14kumar wrote it!”: wrote Akshar in his reply.

Akshar took one wicket, while Ravichandran Ashwin took three. The latter shed the first blood in the morning session by dismissing Will Young for 89. Ravindra Jadeja and Umesh Yadav took a wicket each.

Cheteshwar Pujara and Mayank Agarwal were at the crease at the end of the third day and India were leading by 63 runs in the second innings.
