PM Modi further said that a party is bigger than a person and a country is bigger than a party because the existence of parties is because of democracy and the existence of democracy is because of the country. “Most parties in our country, especially all non-Congress parties, have taken this idea to the ideal of cooperation and coordination for the country,” he said.
Giving an example, the PM said that when the India-Pakistan war happened, all the major parties stood with the government. “Even when the country conducted the first nuclear test, all the major parties stood by the government. But when the country’s democracy was crushed during the Emergency, then we all fought together to save democracy.
PM Modi said that socialism is not a matter of dispute. “Society is our moral, culture and nature. Lohia ji (socialist leader Ram Manohar Lohia) used to talk of social culture… started Ramayana Leela. He had imagined to protect Ganga and Yamuna years ago. Namami today His dream is being fulfilled by Ganges.
He said that Lord Krishna has also said in the Gita that the soul is immortal, so those who live for society and service remain immortal even after death. He said, “Be it Mahatma Gandhi in the freedom struggle or after independence the thoughts of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, Ram Manohar Lohia, Jayaprakash Narayan all inspire us.”
The PM also said that today is a big day for our democracy as the new President has taken oath. Praising President Draupadi Murmu, he said, “For the first time after independence, a woman from the tribal community is going to lead our country.”
The PM stressed that in order to serve the society, it is also necessary that we accept and adopt the spirit of social justice. “Social justice means that every section of the society should get equal opportunities, and no one should be deprived of the basic necessities of life. When Dalits, Backward, Tribals, Women, Divyangs come forward, only then the country will progress.
PM Modi further said that the thoughts of Lohia ji were carried forward by Harmohan Singh Yadav ji from the soil of Uttar Pradesh and Kanpur in his long political career.
“What He Contributed to It” Politics The work he did for the state and the country, for the society, the coming generations are getting inspiration from him.
Along with this, he said that “Harmohan Singh Yadav ji not only took a political stand against the Sikh genocide, but also fought for the protection of Sikh brothers and sisters by putting himself at risk.” Harmohan Singh Yadav was awarded the Shaurya Chakra for his display of gallantry in saving the lives of many Sikhs during the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
The PM said that Harmohan ji had worked during Atal ji’s time. “Atal ji used to say that governments will come and parties will be formed, but the country should remain. This is the soul of our country, democracy should always be there.”
Harmohan Singh Yadav (October 18, 1921 – July 25, 2012) was a great man and leader of the Yadav community. He remained active in politics for a long time and served in various capacities as MLC, MLA, Rajya Sabha member and President of ‘All India Yadav Mahasabha’. He was also instrumental in the establishment of several educational institutions in and around Kanpur with the help of his son Sukhram Singh.
