Opposition leaders meeting in Patna after Karnataka polls: Nitish Kumar

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had indicated on April 29 that a meeting of opposition leaders could be held in Patna after the crucial karnataka assembly elections were over as many people would be busy campaigning there.

The JDU supremo said that issues related to building opposition unity are expected to be discussed in this meeting.

“We will definitely sit together and discuss the issue related to the formation of an alliance of opposition parties to take on the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

“At present, some leaders are busy with the assembly elections (Karnataka). Once it is over, we will finalize the venue of our meeting. If Patna is unanimously decided as the next venue for the opposition leaders’ meeting, If it is done, it will be held here.” Mr. Kumar said.

“We will be happy to organize this meeting in Patna,” he said.

Significantly, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee After meeting Nitish Kumar And his deputy Tejashwi Yadav had on April 24 requested his counterpart in Kolkata to hold a meeting of all non-BJP parties in Patna to discuss opposition unity ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

“I have made just one request to Nitish Kumar. Jayaprakash ji’s movement started from Bihar. If we have an all-party meeting in Bihar, we can decide where to go next,” Ms Banerjee had said after meeting Mr Kumar in Kolkata.

Accepting this friendly request of Ms. Banerjee, Mr. Kumar said, untoward [Mamta Banerjee] So it was said for the meeting in Patna (Mamata Banerjee had demanded a meeting in Patna).”
