Kochi (Kerala) [India] Sep 1 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said that corruption is the biggest obstacle in the path of development, saying his government’s action against corruption has led to polarization as the opposition was struggling to answer.
Addressing a public meeting here, PM Modi said, ‘The biggest priority of the central government is to provide basic facilities to every citizen of the country and to create modern infrastructure. Our government is running a campaign to provide pucca house to every poor of the country.
The Prime Minister said, “Corruption is the biggest obstacle in the path of development. I told the Red Fort on August 15 that the time had come to fight decisively against corruption. With the intensification of action against corruption, polarization has started in politics. Some groups are forming factions to protect people facing corruption charges.
He said that under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, about 2 lakh pucca houses have been sanctioned for the poor in Kerala and more than 1.30 lakh constructions have been completed in the state.
The Prime Minister said that the Central Government is working to open at least one medical college in every district and this will greatly benefit the youth of Kerala. “To develop modern infrastructure, the BJP government is spending around Rs 1 lakh crore on several projects in Kerala,” he said.
PM Modi said that the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Kaal’ is to work on the resolve to make India a developed nation and the people of Kerala have a big role to play in this. He said, “By following the mantra of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas, BJP is converting resolutions into achievements.
He said, ‘Wherever there is a BJP government in the entire country, development is happening at a rapid pace. The reason for this is the double engine government at the Center and the state. This same government can help take the development of Kerala to new heights.”
He said that the central government has spent about one lakh crore rupees on various projects in Kerala and the people of the state are looking at the BJP with new hope.
The Prime Minister arrived in Kochi today where he would inaugurate several development projects. He will lay the foundation stone for various projects of Kochi Metro and Indian Railways worth over Rs 4,500 crore and dedicate them to the nation.
