Opposition Parliament objected to damage report of farmers’ murder

The government is set to face aggressive protests in parliament today, as a poorly probed report described the killing of farmers as a “planned conspiracy”. The Congress MP wrote, “The SIT report of the UP Police highlights that the massacre of farmers in Lakhimpur was a pre-planned conspiracy and not some negligence.”

“The government should immediately sack Ajay Kumar Mishra, Minister of State for Home and ensure justice is provided to the families of the victims,” ​​he said.

The SIT, in its report, told a judge that the farmers were crushed to death by an SUV allegedly driven by Ashish Mishra at Lakhimpur Kheri on October 3 with “intent to kill” and it was “not death by negligence”.

Police probing the case have said the charges of rash driving against Ashish Mishra and others should be revised, seeking the charge of attempt to murder and the charge of voluntarily causing hurt. Ashish Mishra and others are already facing charges of murder and conspiracy.

The opposition has intensified demand for the sacking of Ajay Mishra, who remains a Union minister in October despite allegations against his jailed son.

As the ruling BJP prepares for elections in Uttar Pradesh and four other states early next year, Ajai Mishra has become a big responsibility.

The minister met his son in jail yesterday.
