Over 50 million people joined the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign by uploading their selfies with the national flag on the official website on Monday.
The Ministry of Culture shared this news on social media calling it a great achievement. This achievement is a proof of India’s unity and public participation.
It all started on 22 July, when the Prime Minister gave a clarion call to the nation to ‘joinHar Ghar Tricolor Movement By hoisting the tricolor in their homes.
Taking the campaign a step ahead, Ministry of Culture, the nodal agency ‘Azadi Festival of Amrit’ Appealed people to take selfie with the flag and upload it on the campaign website www.harghartirang.com.
From rallies to cultural programs to human creation, the national festival was celebrated in various ways throughout the day.
All eyes were on the grand ceremony organized at the Red Fort on Monday morning as part of the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’. PM after flag hoisting ceremony Narendra Modi shared the roadmap for the next 25 years – ‘Amrit Kaal’,
“In a stupendous achievement, more than five crore ‘Tiranga’ selfies have been uploaded on the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ website,” the ministry said in a statement.
As India begins its 76th year of independence, wrapping up the 75-week countdown till August 15, 2022, the nodal for the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ was the ministry-run ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ initiative of the government – Ministry of Culture, the statement said.
According to the statement, the historic feat of taking five crore tricolor selfies took place at around 4 pm. The Ministry of Culture also expressed its gratitude to the participants of the campaign.
The celebration of 75 years of independence began on 12 March 2021 as a 75-week countdown to 15 August 2022. The festival will continue till 15 August 2023. The initiative started with an aim to build a personal relationship with the tricolour. Therefore people were asked to hoist the tricolor at their home or at their workplace as a pledge to contribute to the development of the nation from ‘Amrit Kal’-25 years to 2047.
The ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign proceeded in two different ways to achieve the same goal of inculcating a sense of patriotism among the people. Firstly, it made sure to create a personal connection by asking people and the national flag to be flown from their homes. Secondly, it envisioned a collaboration by encouraging people to upload their selfies on the website.
Addressing this force of collective cooperation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his speech said that in the last few days, the country has seen and experienced a new power of re-emergence of collective consciousness. A strength that the nation had achieved long back after years of struggle for independence.
Reflecting on this milestone, Union Culture Minister G Kishan Reddy said, “The five crore ‘Tiranga’ selfies reflect the collective commitment of duty-bound Indians to put the nation first and always.
“Thank you, India. This is indeed a special moment of collective expression of love and connectedness for the motherland. I wish everyone a very Happy Independence Day!”
