Pakistan has recorded around 5,472 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, the highest since August last year. As per the forum, the Covid-19 positivity ratio has reached 9.48 per cent, The Express Tribune reported.
Restrictions have been imposed in the field of education, where academic activities have also been limited. “Schools with students below the age of 12 years will have 50 per cent attendance with a three-days per week schedule, while schools with students above 12 years of age will have 100 per cent attendance,” the NCOC said.
Furthermore, banning the wedding area, the NCOC decided to impose a complete ban on indoor weddings during the meeting, while restricting outdoor weddings to 300 fully vaccinated individuals.
Indoor gyms will be allowed to operate at 50 per cent capacity and cinemas, shrines and parks will also be subject to 50 per cent occupancy.
The forum said, ‘All types of contact sports will be banned. Public transport has also been directed to continue its work with 70 per cent capacity.
These restrictions have been made for cities with a Kovid positivity ratio of more than 10 percent. However, keeping in mind the deadly wave of coronavirus in Pakistan, NCOC also banned cities with less than 10 percent positivity ratio.
In cities where the COVID-19 positivity rate is up to 10 per cent, indoor gatherings including weddings of up to 300 people will be allowed, while outdoor gatherings have been allowed with a maximum limit of 500 guests.
As The Express Tribune reports, gyms, dine-ins and parks will remain open only for vaccinated individuals.
The decision on change in business and office hours was yet to be taken by the NCOC. The NCOC will meet again on January 27 to review the situation.
