Pakistan’s Supreme Court on Wednesday gave former Prime Minister Imran Khan another chance to explain the alleged violation of a court order during his protest march on May 25.

The bench was apparently upset with the evasive methods used by Imran Khan’s lawyers and at one point it seemed that it would issue a show cause notice to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader but in the end, the court followed a policy of restraint. . ,
However, Chief Justice Omar Ata Bandiyal said that the material available with the court justified the issuance of notice to the former prime minister.
“We are giving Imran another chance for clarification,” he said, adding that the court was proceeding with “carefulness” and “patience” in the matter.
“As per the material available with the court, a notice should be issued to Imran Khan. We are still giving them a chance to explain.
Ultimately, the court ordered Imran Khan to give a detailed reply with his signatures by November 5 and adjourned the hearing.
The court was not satisfied with Khan’s earlier reply that he was not aware of any promise given by his party that the protest rally would be held only at designated places.
Earlier, the government had moved the Supreme Court last week through the Ministry of Home Affairs to initiate contempt of court proceedings for violating his May 25 order of the cricketer-turned-politician, asking PTI to declare his ‘freedom’. ‘March’ was banned from organizing.
