Babar Azam is currently in form in his life, especially in ODI cricket. On Wednesday, June 8, the 27-year-old scored 103 runs off 107 balls with nine fours to guide Pakistan to a five-wicket win over West Indies at the Multan Cricket Stadium.
The Lahore-born batsman made a unique record after scoring a century. Babar became the first batsman in the history of ODI cricket to score three consecutive centuries in his career. Earlier this year, Babar scored 114 and 105* against Aaron Finch’s Australia at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
The Young Turks also managed to maintain their form against the Caribbean side. He was dismissed by Alzarri Joseph in the 42nd over of Pakistan’s run chase, but by then Pakistan had already taken command while chasing a target of 306 runs.
Babur is wreaking havoc
Babar first scored three consecutive ODI hundreds in 2016 against West Indies. He got scores of 120, 123 and 117 in Sharjah and Abu Dhabi. This was Babar’s second year in international cricket, after which he did not look back.
Babar also surpassed former Indian captain Virat Kohli to become the fastest batsman to score 1000 runs as captain in ODIs. Babar achieved this feat in his 13th innings at an average of over 91.
He was adjudged the player of the match in the opening ODI, but he passed it on to left-handed batsman Khushdil Shah, who scored an unbeaten 23-ball 41 with the help of one four and four sixes.
