Daltonganj: A 52 year old Muslim man, Mumtaz Ahmed KhanGurha village under Tarassi police station in Palamu district has become a symbol of brotherhood and communal harmony with his exemplary work. During Ramnavami, he serves the devotees and has been actively taking part in Ram Navami Celebrations for the last decade and a half.
A contractor by profession, Khan has offered two earth-movers to dig the bed of the Amanat river so that the devotees can fetch water.
As per the ritual, on the ninth night of Ramnavami, devotees gather in the century old Jhalkhandi Devi The temple in Mazhigwan village, which is located at a distance of six kilometers from the Terahsi police station. Before worshiping in the temple, women bathe in the river and float diyas on the water.
A resident said, “Since the river has dried up, Khan with his earth movers is digging the river bed so that the devotees can perform the rituals.”
Talking to TOI, Khan said, “I have worked in two of my earth-movers this year. The machines will dig water canals for the rituals by Saturday evening. ,

Only positivity can bring social harmony in the country. Khan insisted that he is playing his part during the Ram Navami festivities for the past 15 years.
“I feel happy when devotees bless me after praying. I also arrange drinking water for them,” he said.
