‘Pani Kutti’ movie review: A harmless comedy that dies on arrival

Anugrahan’s great debut kirumi Assured us that he is one of the new crop of filmmakers we need to focus on. recently his suzali — which he co-directed with Bramma — reaffirmed that belief. Barely a few weeks later, based on the success of the series, the follow-up foil kutti screen hit. And this is not good news.

A wannabe comedy-of-errors, this follow-up directorial — set to be released in 2019 — looks dated with its teen storyline and a vintage set of jokes that make you want to pull your hair out. Armed with a battalion of comedians like Karunakaran, Yogi Babu, Ramar, Thanga Durai and Singam Puli, foil kutti Anuchran tries to play to his strength as soon as he takes a hit.

A piggy bank breaks the two factions in search of him and runs amongst themselves. At least that seems to be the idea on paper. If that were the case, foil kutti A meaty script, bigger budget and better set of actors were needed.

Every “joke” you find is half a joke. You wait for the real “joke” to appear at some point, but it turns out to be a long and unsatisfactory wait. I heard scattered laughter from the cast and crew with whom I caught the show. Maybe they’re bound to laugh. I am not
