The Chief Minister paid tributes at the Bengaluru airport and laid wreaths on the body.

The body of Indian student Naveen Shekharappa Gyangoudar was brought to India this morning, three weeks after he was killed during a gunfight in Ukraine. Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai paid tribute and laid a wreath on the body At the Bangalore airport, from where it was taken to the student’s native village, Chalegere in Haveri district of Karnataka.
A 21-year-old student of Kharkiv National Medical University allegedly stood in a queue to buy food when he was killed in Russian shelling on March 1.
Naveen’s body was kept in a glass coffin for the last glimpse of the people. His family said that it would be taken in a procession from their village. His parents have decided to donate the body to SS Medical College in Davangere district of Karnataka.
“My son wanted to achieve something in the field of medicine, but it did not happen. At least his body can be used by other medical students for studies. So, we decided to donate his body for medical research, at home. has decided,” Naveen’s father Shankarappa said before,
There was a heavy police force outside Naveen’s house and the road leading to him was barricaded.
Over 200 policemen were deployed in the village to ensure smooth movement of people entering and exiting Naveen Shekharappa’s house due to the Chief Minister’s visit.
Russia had said it would investigate Naveen’s death after Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla claimed that the circumstances of his death were unclear.
